It happened on the 800 block of Ritter Street, the department said.
The victim, a 50-year-old man, was shot multiple times in the lower half of his body, said police. He was taken to Reading Hospital, though his condition was not reported.
The shooting is under investigation and there is no threat to the public at this time, authorities added.
